Seaweed School

“Seaweeds are a gateway into learning and caring about the ocean and coastal biodiversity,” the UBC botany professor, Bridgette Clarkston says. “They’re so easy to access and it’s such a great excuse to go down to the beach and explore a place where most of us don’t spend a lot of time — even if we live near the seashore.”

Please read on to learn more about the collaborative work that NHC is currently engaged in with UBC, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, and other experts interested in elevating our knowledge of how marine ecosystems are changing with the presence of invasive, non-native seaweeds and climate change.

Seaweed School is in session.
