Water is Life with Iggy Ochieng and Melada Schmid-Ochieng

  • New Horizons 1765 Sollans Road Hornby Island, BC, V0R 1Z0 Canada (map)

In Swahili, people say "Maji ni Maisha", or "Water is Life".

Join Iggy Ochieng and his wife Melanda Schmid at Hornby's last remaining public well, operated by handpump.

See the well, and the use and care of water, through the eyes of a new Hornby Island resident who grew up in a small African village that relies, to this day, on handpump wells. And give your arms a workout trying out the pump yourself!

We will meet in the parking lot at New Horizons and enjoy a short walk to the well.

Registration is Required.
